ChaiRman’s Award

In March, at the Buckeye Regional, the Digital Eagles were selected for the Chairman’s Award. This Award is the most prestigious award at FIRST and it honors the team that best represents a model for other teams to emulate and best embodies the mission of FIRST. As the Chairman Award winner, the Digital Eagles qualified to participate in the 2019 World Championship in Detroit. In addition, at the Buckeye Regional, the Digital Eagles were a Regional Finalist.

At the Championship in April, the Digital Eagles won 6 of its 10 matches in the qualification rounds and finished 29th out of 68 teams in its division. The team was thrilled with its robot’s performance and had an amazing experience at the Championship.

The Digital Eagles finished their record-breaking 2019 season at the WOW Alliance Championship in May in Austintown, Ohio. The top 32 FIRST robotics teams from West Virginia, Ohio and Western/Central Pennsylvania were invited to this Championship. After 27 qualification rounds, the Digital Eagles were undefeated, in third place, and were part of the highest scoring alliance in a qualification round. The team's alliance lost in a sudden death match in the quarterfinals after an alliance team suffered some technical difficulties with its robot.
